ABOUT THE PROJECT:
I was asked to create a promotional video to draw attention to a new technology help-service called “OITech” being offered from a new center called Tech Depot (now renamed the Bobcat Depot).
ABOUT THE DESIGN AND CONCEPT:
I came up with the concept of a set of videos that would use visual humor to get students’ attention. The basic formula for each episode was as follows:
- Begin with two visual jokes to get attention accompanied by voice-over saying, “We can’t help you with this!” “Or this!” “But we can help you with your technology needs. Right here, right now.”
- Then identify the new service. “We are OITech and we have expanded customer support to serve you better.”
- Next, provide the promotional copy with video from the Tech Depot, and ending with a call to action. I asked Jean DeMosky to write up the promotional copy.
- Re-state the claim with a voice-over saying, “We’re ready to help … Urr, … with your technology needs.” Then end-cute with a visual punch line reference back to the initial visual joke.
