ABOUT THE PROJECT:

I was asked to create a promotional video to draw attention to a new technology help-service called “OITech” being offered from a new center called Tech Depot (now renamed the Bobcat Depot).

ABOUT THE DESIGN AND CONCEPT:

I came up with the concept of a set of videos that would use visual humor to get students’ attention. The basic formula for each episode was as follows:

  1. Begin with two visual jokes to get attention accompanied by voice-over saying, “We can’t help you with this!” “Or this!” “But we can help you with your technology needs. Right here, right now.”
  2. Then identify the new service. “We are OITech and we have expanded customer support to serve you better.”
  3. Next, provide the promotional copy with video from the Tech Depot, and ending with a call to action. I asked Jean DeMosky to write up the promotional copy.
  4. Re-state the claim with a voice-over saying, “We’re ready to help … Urr, … with your technology needs.” Then end-cute with a visual punch line reference back to the initial visual joke.

TOOLS USED:

Video cameras, microphones, Final Cut Pro and Adobe Premiere Pro.
